All,
CiscoWorks RME SWIM Remote Staging by Device procedures state to select a device that supports remote staging. How can one check a device to see if it supports it?

Remote stage devices must be run-from-RAM devices (i.e. they run images with -mz in the name), and they must support the CISCO-FLASH-MIB. This covers a ride range of devices. Notable devices which are not supported are 2500s, desktop switches, and 800 series routers.

I have an 870 router which has *-mz* in its image name. I'm not sure if it supports CISCO-FLASH-MIB.
Does this device qualify for Remote Staging?

No, as I said 800 series routers are not support. They lack proper FLASH-MIB support.
