Configure telnet to display 'Use SSH instead'

Hello,

I was wondering if there is such configuration as forcing the switch/router to do the following:

When someone telnets to the device the device will output 'Use SSH instead' and then closing the session.

This is something similar to 'password required but none set'

Any ideas?

TIA,

That's an excellent suggestion for cases in which, for whatever reason, you can't just outright disable telnet. I've never seen it done and a good method doesn't come straight to mind. Perhaps some sort of EEM script triggering on a telnet line becoming active?

Personally, Ijust configure all vty lines to only allow ssh (and force the switch to ssh v2 only).
