Hi Folks. We have a cisco 501 which we've had since 2003. The 501 still works but we can't login to configure it.
It has the old https java interface which stopped working ages ago. we could get it working by using an old version of MS java with IE7, but it doesnt work on IE8 or firefox or chrome. I can't find anywhere that lets you download that old MS java vm.
I have CNA installed on one of the PCs but can't seem to access it from there either.
Telnet is not enabled so it seems.
So at the moment its a bit of a brick, is there any way of logging into it ?

Is this the one you're talking about?

Else, you could try to find the old MSIE for Mac that IIRC also came with the MS JVM :)

Here is the password recovery procedure :

This is not a password recovery issue.
The problem is that the interface on an old cisco 501 requires an early IE browser and a version of java that is not available.

There is no java on the 501 switch, I dont understand what you are talking about.
CNA installs its own java on the computer.

This is what I get from CNA
Cisco PIX Device Manager encountered loading errors. If PDM has informed you about a problem in your setup, please fix the problem and try again.
If the problem is related to disk access, you can click here to load PDM bypassing cache. If the problem persist, you can use "https://IP Address/nocache.html" URL to access PDM without the caching feature in the future.
Cisco 501's from 2003 DO REQUIRE JAVA on the connecting client to login using HTTPS. But only one very old install of Microsoft Java works and I can't find it on the internet any more. This is absolutely and definitely true.
