control of the status LED

Is it possible to control the status LED (or any other) on a IOS Catalyst device in order to identfy a device ?

Me remotly on a device and a "helping Hand" with any knowledge on site who should find the device by looking for a "blinking" LED.

This feature is the exclusive domain of the Nexus family of switches.  A lot of people (including me) have made several requests for this feature to be rolled into the Catalyst switches but the Catalyst BU has put all the request into the "too hard" basket.
