Hi forum,
a costumer of mine got the following Message forwarded from DFM notifier:
- Major Mo 04 01 04:53:59 itnm10002.net DFM-Alarm: Node regf_2.net (x.x.x.x), Switches and Hubs, 3 - Critical, Error in getting alert description
What does the "3 - Critical, Error in getting alert description" mean?
The DFM obviously got a trap or discoverd something from the device (really from the device? I have Bug-ID CSCsb04678 in my mind since this is a DFM 2.0.3).
Now does this message mean the DFM could not interpret the trap values?
Or does the DFM got senslee information while polling the device via SNMP?
Why does the DFM marks it as 3 - Critical?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Frank

If you open the alert in the AAD do you see any more details or errors?
Have a look at DDTS CSCsc02403 to see if this is similar to what you are experiencing. (This bug is fixed in 2.0.4)

Hi David,
thanks for the response.
I have stated the costumer to upgrade asap to LMS 2.6, but now he got this message and wants to know where it comes from!
Unfortunately i have no access to the LMS machine.
I only need to know what may the DFM cause to set the "3 - Critical, Error in getting alert description" condition?
I could not find any information about that in the DFM documents.
Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,
Even if it's not this DDTS its always a good idea to upgrade to 2.6 as you recommended. It has numerous bug fixes and new device support.

David
