Host
Use the ip dhcp pool host Global Configuration mode command to configure a
DHCP static address on a DHCP Server and enter the DHCP Pool Host
Configuration mode.
Network
Use the ip dhcp pool network Global Configuration mode command to configure a
DHCP address pool on a DHCP Server and enter DHCP Pool Configuration mode.
The GS300 manual has the above description for network/host, I initially defined a “IP DHCP POOL NEWORK name” for each of the configured VLANS and all worked as expected. Client were being assigned an IP in each VLAN. I thought I could assign an DHCP Reservation in each of the configured DHCP Network pools. However, the manual state on need to assign a static IP via the “IP DHCP POOL HOST name” command. Not sure what the purpose of reconfiguring a POOL HOST with all many of the same settings the Network POOL has. But I am a novice.
I created the POOL host, however it only allows me have one static ip per pool. Each time a try to add another static ip is gives me “ENTRY IS INCOMPLETE” error, Is this correct? Is this the proper method creating a pool of static ip address issued for the DHCP server?
Anyone have suggestions/recommendations? thank you in advance.
