Disable SNMP mac-notification only for one snmp-server host

Hi,

we use NAC in our network and because of that I need the MAC-notification trap.

My problem is, the NAC needs that trap, but my network monitoring system doesn't.

Is it possible to disable only that trap for my monitoring?

For the NAC I use the following command to filter all other traps:

snmp-server host 192.168.1.1 version 2c public mac-notification

That works!

Is there something like

snmp-server host 192.168.1.20 version 2c public no mac-notification         

to disable that mac-notification?

There is not a "no" form option for the snmp-server host command. You could use and snmpview to limit what is sent to the host via community string. See securing snmp tech doc on cisco.com for examples on using snmpviews...

But I can't get it together...

I thought snmpview is for limitation of snmpwalk for a specific community.

It can limit the traps the switch will send, too?

Hi Sven,

try using the syslog discriminator - I think it should be possible with this feature but I have not had the chance to play with it:

Hi Martin,

thanks for the links! Logging discriminator is a very interesting feature I have to test.

But I don't think that I can use such a logging discriminator for the snmp-server host command.

On my test switch 2960 with 12.2(58)SE2 I can't configure that.

Is it possible that it is working only for logging servers and not for snmp trap servers?
