Hello Team,
I have been going through the following URLs:
1. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/series.html#~tab-extra
If we take the first URL: This URL walks us through details on Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches.
Here if we see, there is a section which talk about
End-of-Support Date
31-MAY-2026 |
I need your help experts to understand how do i interpret End of Support Dates for Devices ?
Can i consider the following section End of Support Dates for all the Models under Cisco Nexus 5000 Series?
OR, the End of Support Changes based on Models and we cannot take the same date for all the Models/Part Number which are part of the Product Series ?
Yes, i do see the following line: But it is not much clear to me as to understand how this End of Support dates work ? What is the meaning of the following line ?
Please share your insights

I checked this Article: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/eos-eol-policy.html
I found this section which mentions the scope of EOL: Cisco’s End of Life Policy (“Policy”) applies to all Cisco hardware, software, cloud services and service offers (collectively “Products”) that have their own unique product part number or product identifier (“PID”). Versions or releases of a Product that do not have a unique PID are not subject to this Policy"
So as per this statement, if a Product has not Variety of Models/Part Numbers then the End of Support Date mentioned at the following section, applies to at the Product level ??
And if there are Variety of Models/Part Numbers associated with the Product then the above scope does not apply ?
Is my understanding correct ? or can someone explain further ?

Individual model end of support date takes precedence over 31-MAY-2026.
31-MAY-2026 is last date when all models would reach end of support, some models will reach end of support before this date as well.
These variations are usually due to the staggered release and discontinuation schedules of different models within the series

Thanks, Wanted more insights here. I am fundamentally trying to understand, why are different EOS/EOL Dates for a Series and then individual Models ?
When we say a EOL/EOS Date applies for a whole Series, then it is understood that all the Models/Part Numbers Under the Series will have the same dates, But from the screenshots if you see in my post above, it does not look like that.
So Hence i want to understand what are factors which trigger such different EOL/EOS Dates for Product Series and then for Model Level ?
