I have acquired a pair of HWIC-D-9ESW cards for my Cisco 2901. Their stacking-ports are connected and switchport stacking-partner interface FastEthernet run on ONE of the ports. As these are Layer 2 interfaces I assigned the entire range of ports to VLAN 1 and gave them IP address 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.240 and of course ran no shutdown
The ports came up and the PoE function is even working on the one ETHWIC that has the PoE daughterboard for it (very rare!)
G0/0 is getting a DHCP address from the cable modem properly.
G0/1 was assigned a static IP address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.252 and the single PC connected to it and assigned 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.252 - nothing else is ever to be on that network.
The command ip routing was run on the 2901
However the ETHWIC connected devices are not able to get any assigned addresses nor is the PC at G0/1 able to ping anything besides G0/1 - I've tried setting up a routing protocol but I fear I've gotten "in the weeds" and need to start from scratch again.
Here is a screenshot of the network setup. Packet Tracer only has the 4-port Fastethernet WIC & there is only 1 in the 2901 for simplicity
