Extending existing LAN

I have 2 3550 switches on which HSRP is running 3550 has 48 ports with 2 1000BASE-X ports i want to connect both with 2 2960 switches to increase the no. of ports on HSRP as both 3550 are on different VLANS to Kindly help me regarding this connectivity

Hi,

You need to configure trunk between the 2960 and the one 3550 and one trunk between the two other.

Switch(config)# interface fastethernet0/4

Switch(config-if)# switchport mode trunk

Switch(config-if)# switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

If your 3550 has 2 gig-links then you might concider configuring etherchannel ?
