High CPU utilization on CISCO3945 router

Please help to troubleshoot this high CPU issue.

Cisco IOS Software, C3900 Software (C3900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.2(4)M6, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

Cisco CISCO3945-CHASSIS (revision 1.0) with C3900-SPE150/K9 with 987136K/61440K bytes of memory.

Uh-huh, what's was the total traffic volume at that time?

Possibly, you're hitting performance limits of router.

BTW, I've attached a Cisco White Paper, that details performance results, for various tests, for various routers, including the 3945.

At the end of the document, Cisco recommends the basic 3945 for up to 150 Mbps WAN traffic, but that's very conservative. I.e. Cisco's recommendation pretty much assures you'll not overload the router under 150 Mbps. However, as the tests reveal, you'll often obtain more throughput than that.
