interface description in addition to (or instead of) interface name

We have solarwinds setup and one of the alerts we get is something like:

11301: Jul 13 07:50:02.369 PST: %LINK-SW2_SP-3-UPDOWN: Interface  GigabitEthernet2/7/9, changed state to up

Is it possible to show the interface description in addition to (or instead of) interface name?  This way, we would immediately know which server maybe having an issue or restarted or lost connection (without the need to logon to the switch and lookup the interface description).

This is a syslog message and syslog works in complaince to RFC's where it will only show interface name and not the description. There is no way to modify the syslog message.

Though, an option to achieve what you want would be to post a query on EEM/scripting forum if a script can be made which can parse this syslog and add additional value of ifAlias.
