I just received a new 2960-X switch running sw release 15.0 and want to add it as a member to an existing stack of 2960-S switches. The 2960-S switches are running sw release 12.2.58.SE2. I'm thinking the 2960-X isn't going to join the stack with the 15.0 release. Is there a 12.2 release for the 2960-X that I could use to match it up with the 2960-S or is my only option to upgrade all of the 2960-S to the same release as the 2960-X?

No it won't.
The 2960X runs on an interim software, the EX. You'll need to downgrade your 2960S to the same IOS level as the 2960X.
Be aware that you are mixing 2960X and 2960S. This means you cannot and will not be able to stack 5 and more 2960S/2960X. The maximum number of switches in a mix stack of 2960X & 2960S is four.

Thanks. I am aware that I would be mixing the two and that the 2960S is limited to 4. I only have three in the stack. That being said, we returned the 2960X for a matching 2960S and issue is now closed. Thanks again for the assistance.
