When trying to answer questions about which cable is connected to which port on my asr9k, I'm struggling to figure out how to show the mac address on the other side of a port for identification purposes.

"show arp" and correlate that with the IP address that you already have.

Hey there Marvin. Thanks, but show arp doesn't get me what I'm looking for. this device doesn't have an ip address, so there's no ip to resolve.
I'm looking for the equivalent of show port (or similar) from like a 6500 switch.

That does complicate things. A quick search turned up
show l2vpn forwarding bridge-domain mac-address
Reference: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/crs/software/crs_r4-2/lxvpn/command/reference/b_vpn_cr42crs/b_vpn_cr42crs_chapter_010.html#wp1320972444
It does presume the port is in a L2VPN though.
If it's a mystery port not in production, you could always put an analyzer on it (Like a Fluke).
