Hello everyone!
I need some help with this issue I'm receiving in a Catalyst 3600, Version 16.12.4:
%IOSXE-3-PLATFORM: 1 process kernel: ci_dump_write: task=SIF SR, write error: attempted=52 returned=-32.
Does anyone have any idea what this is, and if is there a fix?
Thanks in advance!

How often is that error message appearing in the logs?
06-18-2021 08:54 AM
Hi Leo, thanks for the message!
Actually it's random, the error sometimes take a long time until it starts over, and then it's repetitive for a while. It's really weird.

Upgrade the firmware to 16.12.5b.
16.12.4 is one of the buggiest software I have ever used and I have >4 TAC cases to prove my claim.

I didn't know that, about 16.12.4 being so bugged. Ok, will do that, probably will get fixed. Thanks a lot Leo! Best regards.

Can you check your CPU utilization, is it normal ?

is this stack ? or standalone ? how long was the uptime ? is this error after upgrade ?

Hi balaji.bandi, thanks for the message!
The uptime is 6 days, it's a standalone switch, I'm not sure if this started after upgrade, but as this switch has been recently rebooted, I still didn't get any other message, but I'm still monitoring as this has been over and over repetitive.
06-19-2021 01:30 AM
After reboot if you not seeing the issue, it may be gradually pile up, suggest upgrading to the latest stable code when you get a chance or maintenance window.
06-19-2021 04:21 PM
Definitely I'll suggest the upgrade of the firmware, I'm sure that only with a reboot it will eventually comes back.. Thanks for the help balaji! Best regards.

Hi marce1000, thanks for the message!
Yes, we actually took it in consideration to make an upgrade, we're just monitoring after a recent reboot, so far so good, but I'm not sure that this situation is fixed for good, so if it comes back I'll suggest the upgrade.
06-18-2021 10:51 PM
yeah if it's a one time occurrence then monitor the device and upgrade to a safe harbor !

That's probably the best thing to do, the firmware upgrade. I'm pretty sure it will fix the issue. Thank you mohsiala! Best regards.
