lms 4.0 wrong ping, telnet and snmp declaration

Hi.

There is a problem with the lms 4.0 (latest patches and device packages).

The branch site was unable to reach (a problem with the E1 Connection; Line was broken; MPLS-Carrier-net).

However the lms device center declares the ping, telnet and snmp as successful.

But thats absolutely impossible; there are no backup-lines to the branch. Thats also the same for the switches behind the router.

I've no snmp traps or syslogs about the breakdown (but that could be possible).

I don't understand why the lms gives me the information "ping is successful" (but TTL is expired ???? )

Any ideas?

Best regards

Markus

LMS is reporting what the OS tells it.  Note how the OS-level ping output claims 0% packet loss.  LMS treats this as a successful ping.  As for telnet and SNMP, I suppose it is possible that something is intercepting these requests and answering on behalf of the target device.  First try refreshing the reachability status pane, and if reachability is still good, try a telnet from the LMS server to the IP address in Device Center.  Do you get a response on tcp/23?  If so, then LMS will treat that as a success.
