lms4.0 fails to discover asa55xx

Hi,

we tried to add and later also discover asa5510 to lms4.0 but no snmp replies seem to come back to LMS.

LMS and asa were put on same subnet (ping works) we took empty asa wit ip,namif on inside interface and snmp-server community xxx (so read only)

I know LMS discovers with snmp get to a mib file in the ASA. Result in LMS is just that device failed to respond.

- other devices were added without problem

-I see LMS4.0 supports inventory collection in the supported dev table lms4.0

Thanks

Ivo M.

Assuming you're using the ping sweep discovery module, the ASA should be picked up.  You just need to make sure your SNMP configuration is correct.  With the ASA you need to specify a community string as well as the allowed hosts.  This is what I have on my ASA5505:

snmp-server community public

snmp-server host inside 172.18.123.33 poll community public

Where 172.18.123.33 is the IP of my LMS server.  You can confirm SNMP is working using the SNMP Walk tool from Device Center in LMS (it can be found by clicking on the quick links star icon in Device Center).  Try performing a walk with the starting OID of "system".

Hello Joseph,

Thanks for your reply. I tried in my demo network and this looks good. Now live...

The "snmp-server host inside..."  made it respond.

Thanks for your time
