Hello,
Yesterday I had a installation of LMS4.2.2 who was working fine. I followed the procedure to install VMware Tools on the virtual appliance on this thread :
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2185999
Now I have a problem with the processes of LMS, but maybe it is not linked. I forget to do a snapshot before installing VMware Tools so I need to find a solution.
Here is the problem : A whole bunch of services do not start know. I tried to uninstall the VMware tools, to regenerate SSL certificate, I rebooted the server several times. It is running under VMware 5.1.

I opened a TAC Case and I have my answer. Cisco does not support VMware 5.1 for LMS...
I close the thread.

There is a big difference between not supported and not working.
Did the TAC just say, your problem. Reinstall?
VMware tools does not bother the running apps as far as I know.
In fact bringing down the daemon manager correctly before the OS shuts down is better for LMS health.

Michel

Hello Michel,
Yes it is a difference a I agree. But It already encoutered some issue with the 5.1 with other applications and I do not want to loose more time. I will reinstall a 5.0, it will be quicker than debugging. And I know Cisco, if it not supported they will no loose time to debug the product.
I always bring down the deamon manager before stoping the VM, I used to have some issue in the past with Windows versions corrupting LMS databases by rebooting.
Thanks anyway,
Regards,
Abel

OK, I use an older version of the VMTools.
An it is configured only to make sure the OS shuts down nicely, no kernel modifications and that sort of thing.
I did not encounter any issues.
I do wonder how ESX 5.1 could possibly provoke the issue you saw.
Cheers,
Michel

I do not know either but VMware 5.1 has changed some parameters obviously that annoy application (some script Windows and so on).
I will wait until Cisco support this version to work on it for Prime.
Regards,
Abel.
