My logging discriminator is not working no matter how i try to modify it.

Log Buffer (128000 bytes):

*Jan 25 10:15:33.436: %SYS-5-LOG_CONFIG_CHANGE: Buffer logging: level informational, xml disabled, filtering disabled, size (128000), discriminator (NOLOG)
*Jan 25 10:15:34.325: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by taskus on vty0 (10.14.0.255)
*Jan 25 10:15:33.436: %SYS-5-LOG_CONFIG_CHANGE: STANDBY:Buffer logging: level informational, xml disabled, filtering disabled, size (128000), discriminator (NOLOG)
*Jan 25 10:16:53.716: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: STANDBY:Te2/1/3: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -29.5 dBm, Threshold value: -13.9 dBm.
*Jan 25 10:16:55.250: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te1/1/3: Rx power low alarm; Operating value: -28.2 dBm, Threshold value: -13.9 dBm.

CRCORML01(config)#end
CRCORML01#show run | i logging
logging discriminator NOLOG mnemonics drops THRESHOLD_VIOLATION
logging buffered discriminator NOLOG 128000 informational

My goal is to eliminate the THRESHOLD_VIOLATION on syslog (buffered). is this the correct configurations?

Thanks,

Son

Hi,

what platform and IOS is it?

The logging discriminator doesn't work on some relatively recent IOS, for instance see CSCur45606.

Hey

You could try something like this as an example and then check your show log make sure its active

logging discriminator NOLOG msg-body drops THRESHOLD_VIOLATION

Hi Mark,

Have tried this one before also but nothing has changed.

Thanks,

Son

THRESHOLD_VIOLATION is the mnemonic field in the syslog message and not msg-body.

Hi mark

I have three servers of syslog in ASR 9010(5.1.3).

logging x.x.x.x vrf(a) severity info
logging x.x.x.x vrf(b) severity info
logging x.x.x.x vrf(c) severity info

I have a request for disable all  logs of interface Up/Down, only in server vrf(c). without changes level of severity. how could i do it?  help me please

According to the c4500 XE 3.7E Release Notes it should be fixed in 3.7.3E (Table 14).
