The OID I am polling at the moment is cefcModuleOperStatus 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.2.1.1.2. When I poll a Nexus 7k switch I am getting a result: 2,2. I am guessing this means OK and OK. The thing is I don't know what other outputs there are for this OID and what there values might mean. I am guessing I'm correct in assuming that the values 2,2 mean OK, OK because I logged on to the switch and saw that both power modules were in OK state
Why are OID's so opaque?! I can't find any decent documentation which gives a full thorough explanation of what each non intuitively named OID might mean and how to interpret the results. So frustrating!
Anyway does anybody know if this is indeed the correct OID to poll? and if so are you aware of the possible out puts and what the nemerical values returned might translate to eg. 0 = absent, 1 = failed, 2 = OK?

Hi Wayne,
The OID cefcModuleOperStatus is typically used to monitor the Operational status of a module/card.
Based on the object definition, the results would be a single integer number referencing the actual status, as shown here.
Can you provide the results you get from it to compare? Apparently, 1=OK, 2=Failed, 8=Missing, etc.
Since you mentioned Power in the title, I am not sure if you are looking for a module status value (i.e. Up/Down) or to actually get some PoE or similar reading regarding the power provided or consumed by the module/card.
Do you currently have any CLI command that can provide the info you are looking for?

Could you confirm this the correct OID to monitor for power supplies? Also you could help me a lot if you could explain or point to a reference which describes how to use the OID

I mean when I poll a node for that OID I get multiple values back. How am I supposed to interperet which value belongs to which module? Is there a method to this? There must be but it's difficult to find any documentation for it!
