Minecraft LAN with Raspberry Pi

I would like to create a Minecraft LAN working for my students. I was able to get the Minecraft LAN working with a generic home router. Using tcpdump we were able to see the Minecraft UDP traffic. But when I connect the Raspberry Pi devices with a 2960 Switch and a 1900 series router, the Raspberry Pi Minecraft game does not work across the network. The Pi are able to ping and ssh but I am unable to get the Minecraft game across the network. No routing is required as this is just a LAN. I do not think that I need to use Port Forwarding since everything is on a LAN. What is the difference between a generic home router and the Cisco switch and router setup? I think that this would be a wonderful opportunity for my students. Any help would really be appreciated.

I got it to work. I just needed to set the default gateway on the Raspberry pi devices.
