Hi All

I have a question about the AP Group in a N+1 deployment.

Are the AP groups taken over in the N+1 deployment? or do the AP's have to be added to the AP group again after the failover?

Cheers

Andi

The AP will auto join the AP group if your secondary WLC has same AP group name.

You do not need to add the AP to the group manually after failover.

But make sure your secondary WLC have same AP group config.

and this will work in a N+1 setup?

Yes, my reply is based on N+1.

My practice is copy all AP group config from primary WLC to secondary WLC.

The AP will able to add in the group automatically after failover.

Cool. Thank you. I will try it in the near feature

Yes, gordonli 's answer is correct, but basic.

The AP-group membership is saved on the AP itself in the configuration file including other settings.

but of course all controllers in the N+1 set for this AP group need to be synchronized regarding
- AP-group config
- WLAN config in this AP-group
- interfaces used by the WLAN's
- authentication method (Radius etc) for those WLAN's

- etc.

If a controller has a corresponding group/wlan etc , but with different settings, behaviour will not be as expected.

a means to keep those configuration synced is using Cisco Prime Infrastructure, by creating templates to push to multiple controllers.
