I have a NAM-2 which is in need of an upgrade so I can use HTTP secure server and hopefully SSH. Currently the version info is:
NAM application image version: 3.3(1-Patch-3)
Maintenance image version: 2.1(1)
NAM Daughter Card Micro code version: 1.31.1.27 (NAM)
BIOS Version: 4.0-Rel 6.0.4
Installed patches:
Can I upgrade directly to the newest version or do I need to upgrade a version at a time?
Thanks for any/all assist!!

Hi,
1 : To upgrade the NAM module without losing the old data you need to follow the below Path ( 3.3.1 >> 3.4 >> 3.6 then 4.x ) : You can upgrade WS-SVC-NAM-1 and WS-SVC-NAM-2 modules to NAM 3.6 from NAM 3.4 and NAM 3.5 software releases (with any patches). Note : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/i/templates/blank.gifNAM 3.6 does not support upgrades from NAM 3.3 or below. Please check the below link : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/network_analysis_module_software/3. 6/catalyst_6000/quick/guide/cat6kqsg.html#wp46329 Supported Upgrade for Image 4.0: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/network_analysis_module_software/4. 0/release/notes/nam40note.html#wp39578 2 : Other option is to do a clean Install on the Existing the NAM Module , then directly install the 4.x on NAM root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url -install Note http://www.cisco.com/en/US/i/templates/blank.gifThe --install keyword clears and recreates all of the NAM partitions; this action is similar to restoring the factory-default state. If you use the --install keyword, the previously stored reports and data (if any) will be lost. Below is the Procedure to Upgrade the Application Image : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/network_analysis_module_software/4. 2/switch/configuration/guide/advcfg.html#wp1064663 Below is the Procedure to Upgrading the Maintenance Image : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/network_analysis_module_software/4. 2/switch/configuration/guide/advcfg.html#wp1035678 First of all In order to upgrade the NAM Application image , you must first boot the NAM in Maintenance Partition, otherwise you'll get errors. please refer to the section: "Upgrading the NAM Application Software with Cisco IOS Software" at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/network_analysis_module_software/4. 0/switch/configuration/guide/advcfg.html#wp1064663
NOTE: you can Upgarde the NAM Image to 5.x but for that you need to make sure you have 2GB of RAM for optimum performance..
I hope this info will help you..
Thanks
