NAM configuration in a WAN environment

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to NAMs and I have what should be a simple question.

I have switches at the centre of my LAN core, the core is Layer 3, so all routed interfaces.

These switches are configured with multiple routed interfaces and use a loopback address for network management.

I intended to use another loopback type addresss for the NAM, but of course the NAM need an IP address, subnet mask etc. Basically the NAM needs a subnet.

So, on each router I would need to create a seperate newwork to host the NAM? a seperate network that host one device? It seem like a real waste of address space.

Is this correct or is there another way to address the NAM??

Thanks,

Dave

The availability measurement via NAM is still in a pilot phase and the availability measurement for IS still rely on EMAN, which offers more or less the same functionality.
