I am working today with an NME-NAM that we recently configured at a customer site.
When setting up a Capture Filter on the NAM, there are 3 options underneath the pull down for "Capture From" which are:
Internal - External - ERSPAN.
I understand that the Internal interface is the router interface the way we have it set up. External is the RJ45 port that we can use on the NAM for sniffing.
I am not sure what "ERSPAN" is for. I do understand what SPAN (port monitor/port mirror) is and use it all the time in my work.
thanks
Kevin

ERSPAN is Enhanced Remote SPAN. Using ERSPAN you can forward SPAN data over a layer 3 network. ERSPAN is only supported on the Cat6K and 7600 NAMs.
