Prime Infrastructure Device and Interface Health Collection Settings

Hello,

i am evaluating Prime Infrastructure 1.2, so far i have added two devices. A router 2911 and an Catalyst 3560x, but for both devices i don't get any graphs for memory, cpu or interface utilization.

I tried to enable Administration > System Settings > Monitoring Settings Auto Monitoring but the changes are not saved even i nice status message on the bottom right corner.

after a refresh it's like before.

I have an NCS as well and there i have in the background tasks Switch CPU and Memory Poll as well as Switch Interface Utilization Poll. In the Prime Infrastructure i don't have them at all. According to the Configuration Guide there should be a CAT Switch CPU and Memory Poll and a CAT Switch Interface Poll Task, but there is nothing.

Here the Screenshot from NCS

and here from Prime Infrastructure

any ideas?

regards

Alex

Thanks for your prompt response, Alex. Really appreciate it.

Sadly, there is no patch yet. Any idea when is the next release ?

You can still monitor interfaces with the following workaround (which works for me):

Under Design > Monitoring Configuration:

From the tree on the left, expand Features > Interface Health

If needed, select the interface parameters to poll and the polling intervals, provide a name to your template and then click "Save as new template"

Under Deploy > Monitoring Deployment:

Locate your template and click the green "Deploy" button

Select which devices you want to poll, or just select a group like "Routers", Switches etc.

That should do the trick and information should show up after few minutes.

Hope it helps,

Tomer

BTW- you can also perform the same for device health, by using "Device Health" Metrics template under "Design".

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the guide. I am able to see the graph in the first few minutes. then it's gone, back to empty. I try to recreate and redeploy the template, but still fail. I browse to Monitoring > Performace > Interface, it shows nothing. Then I browse to Interface details, it shows polling disabled (Polling Enabled : NO).

What could be the issue ?

Hi Tomer,

I managed to resolve the issue by re-discovering the devices.

Thanks!

I have met problems seem like your post.

I installed two prime infra 2.2 and try to monitor interface-healthy on Catalyst 6509E but it failure, no problem on Catalyst 4507R+E.

The symptom like your post but polling remain running, I try re-activate polling but still failure.

I try creating polling again, I could saw graph few minutes then it go out.

This morning I have restarted a host server, I'm going to check again on Tuesday night.

Thank you for your guide.

Chansit,

I am having a similar issue with our 6509's. We have isolated the issue to only our routed L3 interfaces.

If i have:

int G1/1

switchport access vlan X

AND

int g1/2

no switchport

ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

I can see utilization on the layer 2 switched interface but not on the L3. I have opend a TAC case on this but so far we have found nothing to explain.

I try to prove of problems and fine conclusion.

I have disabled int-healthy for L2 interfaces and reactivated int-healthy for L3 interfaces then graphs for L3 is comeback again.
I have disabled int-healthy for L3 interfaces and reactivated int-healthy for L2 interfaces then graphs for L2 is comeback again.
I have simultaneously activated int-healthy for L2 and L3 interfaces then all graphs is go out.

Conclusion is unable to run int-healthy for L2 and L3 simultaneously.
