Prime Instrastructure 3.1- Replacing Switches and Serial Number doesn't update

I have just noticed that a Switch in our device list is still showing old information even though it has been replaced.     I ran a sync and Prime logged into the new device and collected the Information and shows as succesful.   Model and Serial number is still wrong.

Is there a procedure of what to do when a device is swapped out?

I have been told that when a device is replaced, it must be removed from Prime and then readded.   Surely, this cannot be so.

That's not right but it will prob fix it , I just replaced all my 3945s withy 4331s and I didn't do anything to Prime as it was basically like for like config  , I just let it re-sync itself overnight and they all got picked up as 4331s, im on 3.1 as well

whats it in inventory is it collection failure or something else ?

is it happening for all devices or just 1 , I did have an issue with one site but I manually re-synced and it picked the

We have another problem it seems.    I just checked the record again by searching using the NEW serial number.   That gave me a "No Results Found" message.

So,  I searched using the old number and it gave me the correct Switch showing with the NEW serial number.    So, it appears that my manual Sync has updated the device summary.

I checked to see how long the device has been running since the install and see that it has been running for 32 weeks and Prime was still showing the old information although it has been succesfully collecting the Inventories.

So I have a question.  Are there 2 different processes for collecting info from devices?   One for configuration and one for hardware?
