hi

sorry for the rookie question
configuring an ASA and having issue getting it set up.

We're putting this in place between our subnet and the office wifi router (hence the strange outside IP

can ping ok from outside to 192.168.1.1
but cannot from inside - when i run ping from ASDM i receive;

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.8.8, timeout is 2 seconds:
Error: inside interface is shutdown

Success rate is 0 percent (0/1)

just did the basic config from startup wizard

Running ASDM 7.1, ASA 9.1(3)

config

Hi stoo12009,

The error states " inside interface is shutdown". Seems like you do not have any connection from internal subnet to inside interface.
Please plug a cable into inside interface from internal device (switch) and run "no shut" under "interface e0/x" where you plug the cable.
Verify the interface is up via "show interface ip brief" command.
Feel free to ping if it does not help.

Regards,
Dinesh Moudgil
