Trying to do Ciscoworks Inventory Collection on a PIX firewall that is running old 4.2(5). I'm working with what I'm given. Oh well.
The task failed with the result message of "Device Collection Failed."
I took a look at IC_Server.log for results. I attached the pertinent output as file IC_Server--snapshot.log. According to the log messages, the collection failed due to "SnmpRequestTimeout".
The Ciscoworks server is able to ping and telnet to the PIX. I ensured Ciscoworks is using the correct SNMP string that is configured on the PIX. I initiated a snmpwalk from Device Center. The snmpwalk fails.
The following are the SNMP configuration on the PIX.
snmp-server host inside 10.76.144.199
snmp-server community xxxxxx
Firewalls that are running 6.x are recognized by Ciscoworks. Could it be that Ciscoworks does not like the 4.2(5) version?

Your PIX must be running at least 6.1(1) code for LMS to support it. This is documented at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/device_support/table/lms32sdt.html .
