Hi,
It's my understanding that the syslog in RME 3.5 should be able to handle close to 1000 messages per second (is there any documentation that states that? I've heard it often enough that I believe it, but I can't seem to find it documented anywhere). However, when I set it up to receive messages from ~30 devices (3 of which are PIXes), I notice that the log file, with all filters turned off, is processing much less than that. When I look at the syslog.log, I'm only seeing messages show up every few seconds. When I run kiwi syslogd on the same machine, I get close to 200000 messages per hour (something less than 60 messages per second). I had been under the impression that the syslog in RME should be sufficient for a network of this size. Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of the built-in syslogger? This is running on a Windows 2000 Server with a 2.4GHz Xeon and 2.5GB of RAM.
Thanks,
David
