RME Device Selector not showing sub-devices

Our customer is using RME 4.04 with 3000 devices in the Device and Credential Repository. These have been manually added from Common services into RME.When using Config Mgmt> Archive Mgmt> Version Summary the Device Selector Pane shows all of the main folders such as ALL Devices and Pre-deployed devices however when you attempt to open up any of the sub-folders none of the 3000 devices appear in the sub-folders.

If you use a wild card * in the select process around 1000 devices are discovered.

Device Selector is not seeing all of the devices and none are appearing in the folders? Any help welcome.

You may be overwhelming this server. What other LMS applications are installed on this server? What are the server specs?

They have 4 SunV440 Servers with 8Gb RAM. They are only running Common Services and RME on all the servers. They aren't running any other applications.

8gigs of ram and I'm assuming they have at last 16 GB configured as swap right ?

4.04 is part of LMS 2.5.1, something I'd avoid like the plague. The 2.6 update is drastically more stable and is a no cost update with a valid support contract.

Now back to your current situation. With only 1k out of 3k devices actively managed thats a problem. Have you checked the device credentials to ensure the SNMP community strings are configured correctly on the server AND devices you're trying to manage ? How about telnet/SSH username/passwords?

Do the devices show up in your common services device management list as squares with questionmarks or little function specific icons?

What types of devices are you tying to manage ? Are they in the list of supported devices ?

Are there any network pecularities to consider like the Management server sits behind a firewall, restrictive ACL's, inline IPS probes/viruswalls, strange network technologies like ATM, WAN optimizers ? Any server side host security like ipchains ?

Have you picked on of the unmanaged devices and tested server to device connectivity for all the credentials you have configured ?

Thank you for your comments. We've decided to go to TAC with the problem. I'll report back any results.

We opened TAC case and were advised to upgrade to 2.5.1 and then 2.6 to resolve the issue. This appears to have resolved the issue.
