Hi I need to plug my external hd in to the usb ports on the router.  I have done that and cannot access my external hd.  All I have done is changed my router.  My old router automatically picked up the external hd and my new router does not.

I also have a DPC3939 residential gateway and plugged in my USB hard drive to one of the USB ports on my DPC3939 but I can't find anywhere in the router setup to configure the external USB drive.  The data sheet says that the two USB ports can be used by printers, external hard drives and other USB devices.  My ISP is Comcast and I have the Xfinity X1 system.  I saw somewhere that Comcast had disabled the USB ports in their firmware edition and I also read that the USB ports were for future use.  I want to use the ports!  My old Netgear's USB port work flawlessly and this DPC3939 should work, too!  Anybody have any luck activating them?   Is there some firmware I can download to activate them, or does anybody have a trick to getting them to work?   Any help would be greatly appreciated!
