Is it possible to use SDM in read-only mode. The idea is to give the customer the possibility just to see what is configured, not to cahnge the configuration.

Yes, you can use Role Based Access feature to do it.

You can go th Additional Tasks->User Accounts and associates users to SDM Monitor View...
