Switch Availability

Hi All, we are running LMS 3.2 with HUM 1.2 in a

windows environment.  Currently we have a group of access switches 6509's that loose connectivity for a min

ute or two and then connnectivity is restored.  DFM picks up on the

connectivity loss and creates critical alerts.  In HUM I have a 5 minute poller setup

to collect performance metrics.  I can get the reports in HUM to show me the loss of co

nnectivity.  However, is there a way in HUM (report) that will help

me find what is the cause of connectivity loss.

See attached picture for connecivity report in HUM for the access switches....

No, HUM alone cannot help isolate the cause of the connectivity loss.  However, using other poller templates in HUM (such as the CPU and memory utilization templates) along with RME's syslog reports may help rule some things out.  What syslog messages are you seeing from the switches at the time they lose connectivity?  What is their CPU and memory utilization?  If you're seeing CPU spikes that correspond to losses of connectivity, seeing what processes are taking up the CPU will be helpful in isolating the cause.
