SyslogCollector and SyslogAnalyzer are working properly most of the time.

Every now and then, the SyslogCollector or the SyslogAnalyzer seems like they stop responding.
When checking them with 'pdshow SyslogCollcector SyslogAnalyzer' they appear to be running. However, they are not doing their work.
Syslog reports are empty when this happen (which indicate the collector is not running properly). Automated action (via the Analyzer) are not executed.
If I try to stop them with 'pdterm SyslogCollector SyslogAnalyzer' and then restart (with pdexec) they both stopped and then up again.
However, when checking the collector status through the GUI (RME-->Tools-->Syslog Collector Status) it says that the collector is not reachable.
If I top the whole server with dmgtd stop and then dmgtd start, the whole server is running again but the collector isn't. The only solution I found to this situation is to reboot the server. After reboot everything is up and running again.
1. Why this happen?
2. How can we fix/avoid it?
3. How can we stop/start both services without rebooting the server?
