We are currently using a 2901 router as a terminal server.Yesterday we had a meeting with Cisco regarding Network Upgrade.Cisco told us that we can now use a switch and connect it to the management interface and use it as a terminal server for the latest Cisco Catalyst 6807-XL switches .Any one has any idea how to do that ?

Sounds to me like the engineer or salesperson didn't really understand what a terminal server does.
Yes you can build an out of band management network using the bits they described but it will still be an Ethernet connection and require the 6807-XL be responsive via the Ethernet management port. It does use a separate VRF for management but it's short of seeing the full set of things that you see from a console connection like power on self-test, boot messages during load, etc.It would also not support connection of an analog line for remote dial-up access.

I am using a 2901 Terminal Server for console connection and it works fine for the first few times until the 'overrun' column counter increments to a very high number after which no subsequent connections gets through. I have to power-cycle my TS to reset this counter to restore my console connnection, but again only for a couple of time.
How do I overcome this situation ?
