Since a couple of days I'm unable to create any syslog reports. When I run a syslog analyzer standard report as example, all I get is a new page with no records on it.
The SyslogAnalyzer and SyslogCollector daemon are both running and when I do a tail -f /var/log/syslog_info I can see syslog messages coming in.
Thanks in advance for any info

forgot where it keeps those files on solaris
/var/CSCOpx/ maybe?
/var/CSCOpx/rme/jobs/syslog/ should hold some logs for your report job.
It may give you a clue.
Increase the loglevels under RME -> Admin -> System Preferences -> Loglevel Settings
Also the syslogAnalyser.log may show something
Cheers,
Michel

Hello Michel,
Thanks for your hints. I just checked the /var/adm/CSCOpx/files/rme/syslog directory.
I found this directory empty. I'm not sure, if I'm right as I checked some other things in the meantime.
I just found out, that there is no syslog collector defined under rme -> tools -> syslog.
When I try to subscribe to the syslog collector which is running on the local machine, I did get the following error message:
SLCA0126: Could not subscribe to the Collector.
1.Check whether the collector is running.
2.Make sure that SSL certificates are imported/exported correctly and process restarted.
3.Check whether the Certificates exported/imported are valid and have not expired.
4.Check whether SyslogAnalyzer process is running.
So I'm not sure, if my problem will be fixed as soon as I'm able to subscribe to syslog collector.
Thanks
Fritz

Do you have logrot running or any other utility that is rotating the syslog file?
Have you restarted the daemon manager since this has occurred? How about a pdterm/pdexec of SyslogAnalyzer and SyslogCollector?
Are you adding the collector by IP address or hostname?
Is this a RSC setup?
If you do a netstat -a is there anything else using port 4444?

Hello davistan,
Thanks for your replay.
Yes, I do have logrot running. I still have entries in my syslog_info file from the 10th of July.
But still unable to create any reports from that day.
I did stop and start the daemon manager twice or three times without any success.
The system is a standalone no RSC. I tried to add the collector by IP address and by hostname no success.
When I do a netstat -a, I could not find any entry for port 4444
Thanks
Fritz

what is the status under:
Resource Manager Essentials > Tools > Syslog > Syslog Collector Status
What does it show for messages?

Hello davistan,
I just checked the Syslog Collector Status.
The only line I can see is: no records.
I tried several times to subscribe but allways got the error messages mentioned in one of my posts further up.
Thanks
Fritz
