Hello Experts,
I am unable to get NTP to sync after enabling authentication. Before configuring authentication it was synching without any issues. Config:
ntp authentication-key 1234 md5 2374982374892 7
ntp authenticate
ntp trusted-key 1234
ntp server 1.1.1.1
License information:

Current Type Next reboot

appxk9 appxk9 Smart License appxk9
uck9 None Smart License None
securityk9 None Smart License None
ipbase ipbasek9 Smart License ipbasek9
I can observe the packets ingressing on my Fortigate FW (NTP server) without any 'key' id or 'message authentication code' information. It is somewhere leading me to believe that NTP is failing due to the absence of security license on the device. Can you please advice me if this is an expected situation and if need to enable the security license ?
I have attached screenshots for working and non working setup for your reference.
Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks in advance.
Note: Packet capture for the working setup gets a successful response from NTP server in packet number 77 which is not seen in the screenshot.
Regards,
PD

As I read the original post it sounded like the situation was that ntp was working, you simply configured authentication, and ntp stopped working. So the obvious suggestion was that something about authentication was not configured correctly. Having looked at the screenshots I have a different impression. I note that in the working screenshot the ntp version is 3 and in the non working screenshot the ntp version is 4. So obviously the changes were more significant that just configuring authentication. Can you post all of the ntp configuration from both working and non working configurations? Were there any other changes made in the time between working and non working ntp?
