Unmanaged Switches and Port assignment

Hello Cisco Community,

I am currently deployed in our affiliate company and having a trouble how to manage our umanaged switches, the scenario is this

->All IP addresses are statically configured per workstations (192.168.19.X and 192.168.60.X) we are currently around 300 users.

->We are using 3xC2960 and some 6xnon cisco switches

->No VLANS configured on switches

->All switches are acting like "Plug and Play" to communicate with other computers and servers.

I don't know where to start fixing the unmanaged switches, hope you could help me.

Thanks!

Hey you need to configure a mgmt vlan and assign each switch an ip in that range then allow each switch to be accessed by ssh so you can manage it , all your devices will be in vlan 1 if you did not create any vlans , the links between the switches need to be converted to trunks to allow your vlan 1 and your mgmt vlan pass along it

Hello ,

Mark approach is right, create MGMT VLAN in all switches say 100 or 200 and assign ip addres for managebilty.

As these switches are L2 switches so you can only have one VLAN that can be MGMT VLAN for your network.

Hope it helps..
