It would likely cause very many issues and leave your CiscoWorks unusable. CiscoWorks leverages Java very heavily and there are many many dependencies between the applications that count on Java working exactly as expected.

Generally speaking it is a good idea to install CiscoWorks exactly as specified in the Installation Guide and not do anything not absolutely necessary with respect to 3rd party software on the server.

LMS has struggled to come out of Specified Java requirement and has evolved with new LMS versions.

Now it supports installation of multiple version of java or updates.

What is the verison of LMS you are running? If you are running LMS after 3.2.x onwards, and have everything working fine, like Toplogy, which is most precise service in LMS to have specific version, you can try to update the Java.

Apart from Topolgy, I am sure there would be minimum impact on other features or functions. In any case, you prefer to roll back to just supported Java, you can simply uninstall Java Completely and install supported from NMSROOT/htdocs/plugin/jre*.exe.

Like in Readme for LMS 4.0 onwards it is mentioned :

Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Requirements : Java Plug-in version 1.6.0_22 or later update versions only

So I am sure the LMS should work fine on later updates as well.
