Hi,
We are planning to do vMotion of the Prime server to another host in order to do VMware hosts firmware upgrade.
Currently per earlier Cisco advice we keep vMotion disabled for Prime on VMware as per Cisco vMotion could cause Prime database corruption.
Would it be safe to use vMotion to move Prime to another host following this procedure:
1. Stop Prime application (NCS) on the server first.
Do we need to take application/appliance backup first before moving Prime to another host ?
2. Possibly shut down Prime server itself
Is this required or just shutting down NCS and leaving server up is enough ?
3. Do vMotion of the Prime to another VMware host.
4. Start Prime server and NCS.
Can someone please answer me the above four queries. Appreciate your quick response in this regard.
Regards,
Jaseem

Hi Jaseem,
I don't think you'd need to make it too complicated,Take a backup,if you don't have a one, will come in handy anyday.I would at least export the devices and maps, licenses at least.shut it down and vmotion it for peace of mind.
I haven't seen much on the topic but here you'll find few words
Cheers
