Hello

I have question about FWSM ( WS-SVC-FWM-1)  throughput. I have context type transparent   on my Cisco 6500.

When I send  about  10 Gb/s allowed data via this context traffic above 5,5 Gb/s ( max throughput firewall card )  will  be dropped ?

Regards

Marcin

Hi Marcin,

Yes, as you start to push more traffic through the FWSM than it can handle, packets will be dropped. Here is a document that discusses the performance limitations of the FWSM:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12668

Here are a few other links that will be helpful. They discuss how to identify when the FWSM is being oversubscribed and how to mitigate it:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12712

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13066

Hope that helps.
