Anyconnect not connecting when already connected to guest network

anyconnect not working when using captive portal from guest network. what options could be causing this?

I am guessing that you are using "start before login" for the AnyConnect VPN?  I have had issues with this also from hotel captive portals.  I do not remember the exact procedure I did to get it working but you do have options in the AnyConnect client profile to detect captive portal.  I remember playing around with these settings for a long time before I found a configuration setup that worked.

If AnyConnect isn't connecting while already on a guest network, try the following solutions:

  1. Check Network Restrictions – Some guest networks block VPN connections. Try switching to a different network.
  2. Disable Captive Portal – Ensure you've accepted the guest network's terms before connecting.
  3. Flush DNS & Reset Network
  4. Try a Different Protocol – Switch between SSL and IPSec in AnyConnect settings.
  5. Disable Conflicting Connections – Disconnect from the guest network and try reconnecting via VPN only.
