ASA 5506-X PAT on BVI

Steve Babcock
Level 1
Level 1

ASA5506-x with 9.9.(2)

I did a configure factory-default

BVI1 is set to 192.168.1.1

Then changed the outside interface to a static IP and added a Default static route

From the ASA, I can ping the static route IP from the Outside interface

BUT

I cannot ping anything form the inside network 192.168.1.0 to outside

I set up an access rule for inside_1 for testing

access-list inside_1_access_in extended permit ip any any

access-list inside_1_access_in extended permit icmp any any object-group DM_INLINE_ICMP1 (echo and echo reply)

Here's the nat rule

object network obj_any1

   nat (inside_1,outside) dynamic interface

What am I missing here ?

Steve

hi,

it seems you forgot to add a static default route to ISP:

route outside 0 0 <ISP HOP IP>

note there's a slight change in 5506 deployment starting in 9.7 code.

see helpful link:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/quick_start/5506X/5506x-quick-start.html#id_66725

Sent you the startup instead of the running config

I have a

route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 216.211.37.1 1

statement there

Hi,

i cant see the Access Lists here?

you have to enable traffic from inside to outside using ACL like below sample.

object-group protocol PROTO1
 protocol-object ip
 protocol-object icmp
access-list outside_access_out extended permit object-group PROTO1 object obj_any1 any
access-group outside_access_out out interface outside
