Hello guys, I have a confusion related to Firepower management and its license. We bought ASA 5516-X with firepower serves along with 3 Licenses.

1. URL Filtering

2. IPS

3. AMP

I want to manage Firepower services with Firesight. My question is do i need to buy FIRESIGHT software along with these licenses  ips, amp, filtering? or it will work with already purchased firepower licenses.

Hello ,

Its purely based on how you want to manage the ASA firepower services. If you want to manage the Firepower module using a Firesight Mangement Center then either you can install a Virtual Firesight Management Center on VMware platform. Or else you can opt for a hardware firesight appliance. If you need to buy a Firesight hardware appliance you can contact your accounts team .For both virtual or hardware appliance , if you need the software images, then you can directly download it from the Cisco software downloads.

Here is the quick reference link towards the Virtual Firesight Image :-

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286259687&softwareid=286271056&release=Rules%20Updates&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

Here is the quick reference for a Firesight Hardware appliance :-

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286261233&flowid=54050&softwareid=286271056&release=6.0.1&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

Thus the softwares you can download according to the versions that you need and its all available  in Cisco website software download section .

To manage a Firepower from the Firesight , you need a minimum of Protection and Control license. Along with the URL filtering and other required license, please make sure that you have a Protection and Control license to manage the devices.

Also for the installation purpose, let me know if you need guidance or helpful links.

Thanks for your reply.

I will go with image from cisco. I know that its price is nearly 500 USD but i already purchased 3 licenses with firepower then why i have to purchased these licenses or control and protection licenses again. My platform is ASA 5516-X with firepower and 3 licenses included in it. And also please refer me some videos for management of firesight if u have.
