ASA 5516 ARP table

Hello All

Newbie here hoping you can help. We have an asa 5516 firewall and are currently doing some work with the supplier of our library system. They have recently changed their isp and when we tried cutting over their connection didn't work.

I had the following from their engineer:

I coordinated a cutover with another council this morning that has a similar setup to Queenstown-Lakes.

We had a similar issue to what we had a few weeks ago.

It turned out that the firewall arp table was holding the MAC address for the old router and so traffic was not being routed. The Council engineer removed the arp entry and all comms started flowing.

As we are not experts with the firewall, I thought it would be easier to clear the arp table on the firewall to make sure we start afresh. As we use the ASDM 7.6(1) I was wondering if the correct process to follow was to go to TOOLS - Command Line Interface and type clear app and then click Send.

Any help would be most welcome.... Thanks

Hi,

I am not sure about ASDM7.6 as i am using 7.9, but i think you can see the ARP table under Monitoring --> Interfaces-->ARP Table and you can clear ARP entries there.

Thanks

John
