hi,
i was about to upgrade an ASA 5525-x FP module but got an error. i don't see the SSD on show inventory output but can see its MAC and serial number on show module. the ASA is in a remote site and was already upgraded to 9.4. just want to ask here if this is an SSD compatibility/HW issue?

You’re welcome.
The SSD is hot-swappable. However the ASA may need to be reloaded to re-scan inventory and initialize the hardware.

That ASA is definitely not healthy. I would get somebody to reseat the SSD and reload the appliance.
If the problem persists after that I d open a TAC case and request a replacement unit.

hi marvin,
thanks for your feedback! was thinking might be a HW issue as well. the site is remote and would need to contact someone to re-seat the SSD.
just another quick question, is SSD module OIR or hot swap, i.e. can I re-seat without power OFF the ASA chassis?

hi marvin,
a question pop up in my head while waiting for someone to re-seat the SSD.
is there a 'format' command or option to reformat the SSD?
or does ASA need to detect the SSD first?

The file system on the SSD isn't directly accessible by a user on the ASA. The module imaging process takes care of everything in that regard.
