ASA 5540 Copy-run-start then reload, comes up with blank config

I've spent time creating a good config on an ASA 5540. I did a copy-run-start then reloaded it. It comes up with a blank config. I copied start to flash:start.cfg then boot config flash:start.cfg, then another copy run start. Then another copy start flash:start.cfg. I haven't tested whether the config comes up after a reload it as it is Friday and I don't want to touch it after recreating that unbacked up config.

How do I assure the ASA will keep my running config when I wr or copy run start then reload it or if it recycles after a power spike? (UPS are old)

Thanks!

Matt

The issue may be due to a wrong config register being configured on the ASA.PEerform the following steps to resolve the issue:

1)copy the existing config to a file in your computer.

2)Restore your ASA to factory defaults

3)copy the config from the file in your computer to the ASA and save the config.

5)perform copy-run-start.

4)Check that the default config register value is 0X1.

This will resolve the issue.
