ASA 5540 Memory Requirements for URL Filtering

Hi,

I am migrating our core network firewall over to a Cisco ASA 5540 Active/Standby Cluster. The firewall will act as the main Ingress/Egress firewall, along with forwarding URL Filtering to a Websense server cluster.

The Firewall will be connected to two 100Mbps Internet connections (indirectly, as it will connect up to a 39xx router most likely). It will need to be capable of the following:

1) Filtering inbound/outbound traffic.

2) Supporting a DMZ with web servers, exchange servers, and OCS cluster.

3) Forward URL filtering to a websense cluster (most likely on the inside network).

4) Support OS 8.3 for Netflow reporting.

I was wondering if anyone new of where to find the memory requirements for supporting this traffic. I was thinking since the recommended for OS 8.3 was 2GB, that upgrading the boxes to 4GB would be sufficient.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sami

All you need to know about 8.3 upgrade: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12690

Before and after NAT config samples: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9129

I don't believe there is a document that talks specifically about websense and the memory needed for that for each platform.

Pls. check the data sheet here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps6120/products_data_sheets_list.html
