Hello all,
i tried to look for information about the configuration in https portal in order to access windows files on windows 2008 server.
I saw that cifs only support netbios, it's very strange because of new protocols in windows files now.
So when I tried to connect my file server using the ip address and the sahre folder using this syntax :
\\ip address\sharefolder$
it doesn't work, the message is : "cannot find server or dns error"
My question is, is it cifs not supported by cisco with windows 2008 ? do i need to create access rules to the internal network when connecting to the https portal ?
thank you

In the ASA, CIFS are enabled and supported in the SSL VPN portal.
You might need to configure, DNS,WINS and CIFS access in the SSL profile you have created.

thank you andrew, ok for me DNS already works, i didn't install WINS because of windows 2008 but it still doesn't work, therefore, i tried using ip address to eliminate resolution problems.

ok for what ?? my question was do you know if it's possible to use the IP address in the UNC path ??

You can - but you said in a previous post DNS works, so if your DNS is working from the ASA to your internal network, then you should need to use the IP address in the UNC path.

DNS works because when i use http tool in the address bar of the portal i can access to Internet, but my only problem is for CIFS, can you give me the syntax : cifs://192.168.0.1/c$ or cifs://\\192.168.0.1\c$
another question that can help, username and password in the asa are local and for the share folder, it's another login/password, can i enter login and password in the cifs address like for ftp ?
thank you
